Historical fiction author Suellen Ocean has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sonoma State University in California. The former radio personality has a "knack for storytelling and for making characters come alive." She bases her novels on people who have suffered injustices. The Lies of the Lion is the story of post-Inquisitional Jews in Amsterdam who built communities while pretending they were Christians. The Celtic Prince is about the evolution of people away from their native Judaic roots. Gold River is about a struggle for Native Americans to preserve ancient burial grounds and Gone North is about dark situations that arise when thousands of young people gravitate toward a tiny community in the mountains not far from the ocean. When she’s not working on historical novels, Suellen is caring for her organic garden and cooking gourmet foods, vegetarian style. Although always living in the western United States, she's had the opportunity to travel to England, France, Holland and Israel. When she returns home she does extensive research on the areas she’s just visited and writes novels.
