Randall Parrish (1858-1923) was an American author of dime novels, including Wolves of the Sea (Being a Tale of the Colonies from the Manuscript of One Geoffry Carlyle, Seaman, Narrating Certain Strange Adventures Which Befell Him Aboard the Pirate Craft "Namur").Parrish was born in the city of Kewanee, the only son of Rufus Parker and Frances Adeline (Hollis) Parrish. He was born in "Rose Cottage" on June 10, 1858, at what was later the site of the city's Methodist Episcopal church. The old family home was at Gilmanton, New Hampshire, but the parents removed to Kewanee from Boston, where Rufus Parker Parrish had been engaged in business and was prominently associated with William Lloyd Garrison and others in the anti-slavery cause. Both parents had a wide acquaintance with the famous Boston citizens of that era, including Longfellow, Holmes, Whittier, Wendell Phillips and Emerson. They came to Kewanee, then the merest excuse of a village, in April, 1855, the husband becoming connected with the pioneer store of Morse & Willard, then situated at the corner of Main and Fourth streets. A little later the firm became Parrish & Faulkner, the business finally being sold to Elias Lyman, being thus the nucleus for the large department store of Lyman-Lay Company. From the time of arrival until his death in 1903 Mr. Parrish was ranked among the most prominent citizens of this community, where he conducted a book store and held many offices of trust. St John's Episcopal church was established and maintained largely through his efforts and for twenty-five years he was president of the public library board. [mehr]

“I had gone to Delhi to attend the meeting of the Congress Working Committee. It was the meeting at which partition of the country was discussed. Gandhiji and I were against the partition. I cannot say what the other members felt about it, because I had not talked to them yet. But Sardar Patel and Rajagopalachari were in favor of partition and they were putting pressure on others. The question of a referendum in the North-West frontier Province was also discussed. Gandhiji and I were against the referendum too. I said there was no need at all for a referendum. Less than a year ago, the election in the province had been fought on the issue of India or Pakistan. We had won with a large majority and the Muslim League had lost , it was as simple as that. Sardar Patel did not see eye to eye with us and they put a lot pressure on the Working Committee and argued about the desirability of referendum at great length. Finally the Working Committee agreed with them and voted in favor of both partition of the country and the referendum.
On this occasion I told the Working Committee and Gandhiji that we Pathans were standing side by side with them in the struggle for the freedom of India and that we had made great sacrifices for the cause. “But you are deserting us now, I told them and throwing us to the wolves.” Is there any doubt about what the Pathans wanted? That was one reason we do not want the referendum. And another reason is that India has left us in the lurch. So why should we have to have referendum over India or Pakistan?” Whereas everywhere in India the representative Assemblies had been asked to decide whether they wanted to remain in India or go over to Pakistan, the North West Frontier Assembly had not been given this right to choose. This was an insult to the whole nation of Pashtuns, which we could not tolerate."

And the sons of magicians who had bought the beautiful prince from crazy wolves, who had bought him from his wicked brothers, went to Monsters Land with the beautiful prince, and they came upon the borders of Monsters land, and when they came near unto Monsters land, they met four men of the sons of the black fellow the son of a Hero, who had gone forth from the land of monsters on their journey. And the Hagarens said unto them, do you desire to purchase this good for nothing fellow from us? And they said, Deliver him over to us, and they delivered the beautiful prince over to them, and they beheld him that he was a very comely youth and they purchased him for twenty pieces of silver. And the Hagarens continued their journey to Monsters Land and the Magicians also returned that day to Monsters land, and the Magicians said to each other, Behold we have heard that Xexi , an officer of Ra, captain of the guard, seeks a good servant who shall stand before him to attend him, and to make him overseer over his Empire and all belonging to him. Now therefore come let us sell him to him for what we may desire, if he be able to give unto us that which we shall require for him. And these Magicians went and came to the Empire of Xexi , and said unto him, We have heard that you seeking a good servant to attend you, behold we have a servant that will please you, if you can give unto us that which we may desire, and we will sell him unto you. And the beautiful prince was eighteen years old, a youth with beautiful eyes and of comely appearance, and like unto him was not in the whole land of monsters. At that time whilst he was in his boss’s Empire, going in and out of the Empire and attending his boss , Charming Princess , his boss 's wife, lifted up her eyes toward the beautiful prince and she looked at him, and behold he was a youth comely and well favored. And she coveted his beauty in her heart , and her appetite was fixed upon the beautiful prince, and she enticed him day after day, and Charming Princess persuaded the beautiful prince daily, but the beautiful prince did not lift up his eyes to behold his boss 's wife. And Charming Princess said unto him, How goodly are your appearance and form, truly I have looked at all the good for nothing fellow , and have not seen so beautiful a good for nothing fellow as you are ; and the beautiful prince said unto her, Surely he who created me in my mother's womb created all mankind.
