...and I don't say that lightly. This story has everything to keep a person riveted to their chair from the very first paragraph.
This says 'fiction' on the front. Is this a true recollection of your childhood memories? Either way, it's a beautiful story, and I felt a measure of envy, for the close bond of your extended family.
Your story-telling abilities surely shine through with this beauty.
Good luck my friend, and a very... mehr anzeigen

You carried the theme of immortality very well throughout the text, from its quizzical introduction to the final resolution.

Your story is one that deserves more than one read--real-life events are generally played throughout our minds over and over, interpreted and reinterpreted. One thing that is constant is the goodwill of relatives--I've also experienced this off and on.

Flawless English, beautiful presentation and excellent story.

This book highlights what I believe to be the purpose of this contest - remembering your family. Uncle Petro gained immortality by finding a place in your heart and mind. As long as he lives on in your memories - he will never die.

Well done Carmen!!

God bless,

Tyrone

Thank you, Tyrone. That's exactly what I want to communicate. Families, friends, and actually, everyone else who has touched our lives will live in our minds and in our hearts perhaps longer than our memory of them, because some of us are in the habit of writing it down and... mehr anzeigen

is so endearing, Carmen! The details of Aunt Nina's home as seen through the eyes of her adoring niece were beautifully expressed!

What a tragic, yet wonderful ending! Has my vote, Carmen!

Good luck! Petra :))

Your title and conclusion were brilliantly correlated. I would almost believe you had a catholic background. A very sweet recollection.

I thank you very much for reading my work and leaving your comments. This story arrived at its own conclusion. There was nowhere else to go but where it landed on its own. And yes, I do have a Catholic background.

Thanks again. :D

My comments has two parts.
1-What a lovely story. I love your description of auntie nina in the kitchen by the sink, the way she moves her fingers around the apron, spashing water. I can feel how impatient she get with Uncle Petro.
2-As your story begins-"But that's what uncle Petro wanted.." Did I missed a page?

In conclusion I feel the warm family gathering and all the exchanges the happen.
It reminds me of my family gathering... mehr anzeigen
