The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating

Viola's idyllic life in the Ozark Mountains with her husband, Stanley, slowly devolves after his back injury, resulting in mounting verbal abuse and being held a virtual prisoner to do his bidding.

After learning that one of the flowering plants in her garden is poisonous, she devises a plan to murder her husband. Accomplishing the task, she disposes of his body and truck in a lake higher in the mountains, intending to report him missing two days hence.

I enjoyed this little read very much, John. You have always had a knack for the more grisly. I was reminded of Poe as I finished reading this...wishing, though that Viola...well, I don't want to spoil the read for others.

GOOD job as usual!

Well done! Excellent little tale with just enough detail to give the reader a clear picture and flavor of the characters and setting, but no too much to make it unwieldy. And the ending was absolutely perfect, fitting the character of Viola to a tee! You, sir, have mastered the art of the short story in this one! Loved it!
