Starting in August, 2012, I will select a book every other month AND a book each week, for us to read and review in the "BookClub."

The chosen bi-monthly book will be a long (and hopefully completed) book for us to take our time with (and for those members who are unable to visit the site often enough to discuss a book each week).

The chosen weekly books will be short (and often unfinished) books for those members who wish to... mehr anzeigen

What's your method of choosing books? How do you know which ones to use for the monthly and weekly readings?

RebeckDawn

You can suggest a book in the related discussion thread and then I will choose a book to be read each week (and each month) from the list of books recommended by the BookClubbers!

You are more than welcome to suggest or nominate books for us to read in the BookClub and I will take them into consideration.

Keep in mind that any suggested books should be relatively free of spelling/grammatical errors and have enough content to inspire a discussion.

Please post your book suggestions in this thread!

Edited this a bit more and changed the cover.

Denise had heard the voices all her life. The voices told her of past and future tragedies and knew a lot of things concerning people. They asked her to contact a psychiatrist who was the key to their release from a parallel... mehr anzeigen

I love that you put the review and the interview together - it was so much more enjoyable that way - and so much more personal. Great job! I'm going to share it on the BookRix Facebook page :)

In my opinion, this was a lovely story, that was well written & touched my heart.

1. What did you think the book was about?
I thought that it was about Eli, and her struggle to acheive her goals before her time was up.

2. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not?
I enjoyed it. It's not normally the thing I would be interested in, but it was well-written, so I don't... mehr anzeigen

For November/December, I've decided to try something new - We are going to read two books by member geordiriker and help her decide which book is better. They both use similar characters and story lines, so all you need to do is read both and then answer these simple questions:

1. Which book do you like better? Why?

2. Do you think it would be better to keep these as two separate stories, or put these two books together?
a) If... mehr anzeigen

I didn't read them all, maybe when I have more time I do it. Although they're not really my genre. Now, from what I read, i prefer 'Reality Heist' better.

The other one has a lovely cover, but the story looks more confused to me, and has repetitive words and actions.

'Reality... mehr anzeigen

As I am very limited for time lengthy books are daunting & I tend to avoid them. However, I love the style of Reality Heist. It flows smoothly & hooks the reader. I found myself able to justify the time I spent reading it.

The start of The Other Six Dimensions dragged in... mehr anzeigen

1. What did you think the book was about?
A young man has to earn the right to belong to a prestigious group of thieves. However, he could not afford to fail otherwise, his life would be at risk.

2. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not?
It was refreshing to read new material. The story was very descriptive & I felt I could identify with the young man and his trip through Paris.

I really enjoyed the story and the unique writing style of the author who I think has a wonderful imagination. I have only one main suggestion which I think would help the flow of the story, namely to reduce the length of many of the dialogue modifiers. I believe it's okay to... mehr anzeigen

I'm so sorry, I've been so busy around here that I didn't have time to post a new book - however, I will get one up before the end of the week!

RebeckDawn

If you want to get more involved with the decision making for books in this group, that would be really helpful - I am so busy at the moment!
