Another great review!

I love that you put the review and the interview together - it was so much more enjoyable that way - and so much more personal. Great job! I'm going to share it on the BookRix Facebook page :)

1. What did you think the book was about?
I thought that it was about Eli, and her struggle to acheive her goals before her time was up.

2. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not?
I enjoyed it. It's not normally the thing I would be interested in, but it was well-written, so I don't think I wasted my time or anything. It definetely wasn't a disappointment.

3. Did you feel the book fulfilled your expectations? Were you disappointed?
I was expecting it to be a little sappy, or have some major flaw at least. And now I can happily say that my cynical side is disappointed that the major flaw was non-existent.

4. Did it pul you in; or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book?
In all honesty, yes, I felt like I had to force myself to finish it. But this is more a flaw on my part than anyone else's- this isn't he sort of book I feel inclined to read, I'm not into this sort of feeling.

But there was still plenty of great stuff here. Tension, full story, more showing than telling. Overall, I can see why it would be one of the finalists in the Young Writer's contest.

1. What did you think the book was about?

About a terminally ill girl and her wish list. She needs to do everything on it before it's too late.

2. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not?

Yes, very much. Apart from being well written, the emotional side of the story keeps you wanting to read more.

3. Did you feel the book fulfilled your expectations? Were you disappointed?

The story was fabulous, but the changing from one POV to the other isn't to my liking. Maybe if the first half of the story was from Iria's pov and the second half from Eli, would have looked better. In longer novels when there's a POV change, they usually do the first chapter in a character's POV and the second chapter in the pov of the other character. They alternate the POV in through chapters.

4. Did it pull you in; or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book?

It pulled me in. The first page captured my interest and made me eager to read the whole story.

I didn't read them all, maybe when I have more time I do it. Although they're not really my genre. Now, from what I read, i prefer 'Reality Heist' better.

The other one has a lovely cover, but the story looks more confused to me, and has repetitive words and actions.

'Reality Heist' looks smoother and flows better through the story. I also like the fact that POV remained with Brandee.

And no, don't combine the two books. I prefer them separate.

As I am very limited for time lengthy books are daunting & I tend to avoid them. However, I love the style of Reality Heist. It flows smoothly & hooks the reader. I found myself able to justify the time I spent reading it.

The start of The Other Six Dimensions dragged in comparison. I didn't start to get into the story until Brandee mentioned about her Dad. I also wanted more dialogue in the earlier chapters. I was constantly checking the page numbers and felt it hard to concentrate.

However, as you know Reality Heist is a longer book but it lured me to forget time & become absorbed in the story. You had already tackled everything I had to say about the other book.

A quick edit to catch those nasty typos (they creep up on you when you least expect it) is all it needs. ;-)

Well, this particular story takes place in France. It begins with the "initiation" of a man among a group of thieves, his task being to steal from known wealthy men without being caught.

2. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not?

I simply fell under its spell...It was dynamic and quick-paced, but I could not stop reading!

3. Did you feel that the book fulfilled your expectations? Were you disappointed?

It more than met my expectations. I was not at all disappointed. :-)

4. Did it pull you in; or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book?

It pulled me in immensely! I was not forced at all; he knew what his audience wanted, and committed to it.

Enjoyed this book very much, beautifully written, well done. Would like to read more :)

I really enjoyed the story and the unique writing style of the author who I think has a wonderful imagination. I have only one main suggestion which I think would help the flow of the story, namely to reduce the length of many of the dialogue modifiers. I believe it's okay to occasionally extend a modifier like "he said with a twinkle in his eye." But when extended modifiers are used throughout a story they tend to distract from the action and interrupt the flow. In many cases, simply using "he said" or "she said" can be more effective. If you want to extend a modifier you can say something like "he said. Then, turning into the breeze, he shuddered" instead of lumping it all into one sentence.

I'm so sorry, I've been so busy around here that I didn't have time to post a new book - however, I will get one up before the end of the week!

If you want to get more involved with the decision making for books in this group, that would be really helpful - I am so busy at the moment!
